Bristol AI Appoints Dr. Joseph Bradley as Chief Scientist for Defense and Government Division
[San Diego, CA] – [January 29, 2026] – Bristol AI announced today the appointment of Dr. Joseph M. Bradley as Chief Scientist for its Defense and Government division, bringing decades of naval engineering expertise and AI-driven sustainment leadership to the company’s mission of transforming military readiness through advanced analytics.
Dr. Bradley is a retired Engineering Duty Officer with extensive operational experience in naval shipyard management, submarine and aircraft carrier maintenance, and fleet sustainment operations. His naval career included leadership roles at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and as COMSUBPAC Force Maintenance Officer, along with serving as commissioning Program Manager for Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department-Bangor.
Since retiring from the U.S. Navy, Dr. Bradley has led transformative defense projects at the intersection of systems engineering and artificial intelligence. His recent work includes developing the SIOP digital models of the four Naval Shipyards, creating the COLUMBIA CLASS sustainment system (Project Blue), and leading development of ORCA—an AI/ML workload and workforce optimization tool for TRIDENT Repair Facilities as a Research Engineer at the University of Maryland Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security.
“Dr. Bradley’s unique combination of operational shipyard experience and AI-driven sustainment innovation makes him the ideal leader for our Defense and Government division,” said Dr. David Sathiaraj, CEO and Co-founder of Bristol AI. “His track record of translating complex maintenance challenges into predictive, data-driven solutions aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver AI-native platforms for military readiness.”
Dr. Bradley holds a Bachelor of Engineering from The Cooper Union, a Professional Degree of Mechanical Engineer and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Old Dominion University.
“The future of military sustainment depends on integrating AI into every layer of maintenance operations—from predictive analytics to workload optimization,” said Dr. Bradley. “Bristol AI’s platform represents the next generation of tools the defense community needs to achieve ambitious readiness targets while operating in increasingly contested environments.”
