Medtech VC funding is on pace for its strongest year since 2021

Venture capital investment in medtech is surging, with $8.5B raised in the first half of 2025—putting the sector on pace for its second-highest annual total ever, according to PitchBook.

Despite deal volume falling to its lowest level since 2017, larger investments are flowing into a smaller pool of mature companies as exits via IPOs and buyouts slow.

Surgical devices now dominate activity, accounting for nearly half of deal value, while diagnostics and life sciences follow as key segments.
